Wednesday afternoon sessions a 'GO'

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2010

Wednesday afternoon sessions are now up and running and will commence on Wednesday, November 3 at MARS, and continue until the end of school term.

Head Coach Rupert Sapwell
The format:

Time: 4:30-6pm Wednesdays @ MARS
Coach:player ratio = 1:6

Schedule:
Session one: Wed, Nov 3
Session two: Wed, Nov 10
Session three: Wed, Nov 17
Session four: Wed, Nov 24
Session five: Wed, Dec 1
Session six: Wed, Dec 8

Cost: $15/session when paid in a six week block of $90.00 Payment options are here

The initial focus will be on athletic development, including core strength, footwork, coordination and balance.

Why core strength?

All your power comes from your knees to your rib cage. A stronger core will have a positive affect on balance, strength, explosiveness and confidence. There is no easy way to do this, so expect some blood, sweat and tears. Squats, lunges, medicine ball, quickstep ladder, lower back and ab exercises will be done every week. Players will feel pretty sore initially, but theyll come to enjoy it! ?

We will also be working on ball handling and finishing close to the basket. I dont believing in cramming the session with multiple skills, I think its more benficial to get very good at a few things, rather than OK at many, because these refined skills will be game-ready.

Im confident we can make good progress in six weeks.
